Code of Conduct

ImprovCon Attendee Code of Conduct

ImprovCon is built on collaboration, creativity, and care for one another. This Code of Conduct exists to ensure everyone has a safe, inclusive, joyful, and respectful experience.

By attending ImprovCon, you agree to follow these guidelines. Violations may result in removal from the event without refund and, in serious cases, exclusion from future ImprovCon events.

1. Be a Good Scene Partner

Treat fellow attendees, performers, guests, volunteers, venue staff, and organizers with kindness and respect.

  • Be courteous and welcoming
  • Avoid disruptive, dangerous, or intimidating behavior
  • Respect shared spaces and keep hallways, exits, and doorways clear
  • Match your volume and energy to the environment

If it would ruin a scene, it probably does not belong here.

2. Harassment Free Always

ImprovCon has zero tolerance for harassment, discrimination, or bullying.

This includes behavior that:

  • Threatens, intimidates, or alarms another person
  • Involves unwanted physical contact, advances, or language
  • Targets someone based on gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, or any other protected characteristic

If you feel unsafe or witness concerning behavior, report it promptly to ImprovCon staff, a designated volunteer, or venue security. If possible, provide the pass name and a brief description so we can act quickly and discreetly.

3. During Workshops, Panels, and Performances

Help presenters and performers shine.

  • Silence phones and devices
  • Do not talk during presentations unless invited
  • Exit quietly if you need to leave
  • Be mindful of sightlines and seating

Some sessions are interactive by design. Follow the facilitator’s lead.

4. Venue Safety and Comfort

Safety keeps the show running.

  • Footwear must be worn in all event spaces
  • Weapons are prohibited
  • Running, blocking aisles, or sitting in fire exit paths is not permitted
  • Drones or tethered balloons require prior approval
  • Follow all instructions from venue staff and ImprovCon team members

Personal expression is encouraged, and remember that ImprovCon is a shared public space. Attire or behavior that substantially disrupts others’ comfort may be restricted.

5. Photography, Recording, and Privacy

Photography and video are generally allowed in public areas with care and consent.

  • If someone asks not to be photographed or recorded, stop immediately
  • Recording or broadcasting performances, workshops, panels, or other ImprovCon programming requires permission from ImprovCon
  • Respect the intellectual property of speakers and performers

ImprovCon will be recording for marketing and historical purposes. By attending ImprovCon, you agree to be filmed and recorded. When in doubt, ask first.

6. Passes and Identity

Passes are personal and nontransferable and must be visible in event spaces.

  • Lost passes must be reported to registration
  • Sharing or misusing a pass may result in removal without refund
  • Proof of Identity must be provided upon request by an ImprovCon Staff member, Volunteer, Event Security, or Hotel Staff.

7. Respect Time, Space, and Access

  • Meet guests and performers only during scheduled or approved times
  • Respect lines, time limits, and shared seating
  • Do not block traffic flow or reserve seats for absent attendees

Everyone deserves access and space to participate fully.

8. Alcohol, Drugs, and Prohibited Items

ImprovCon is a professional and inclusive environment.

  • Illegal substances, public intoxication, or impaired behavior are not permitted
  • Smoking or vaping is allowed only in designated outdoor areas
  • Items prohibited by law or venue policy may be confiscated or removed

9. No Exploitation

ImprovCon maintains zero tolerance for human trafficking, exploitation, coercion, or abuse.

This includes:

  • Recruiting or soliciting through force, fraud, or coercion
  • Exploiting minors or vulnerable individuals
  • Isolating, controlling, or intimidating others for personal or commercial gain

If you see behavior that feels unsafe, report it immediately to ImprovCon staff, venue security, or local authorities. Reports are handled seriously and discreetly.

10. Sales, Promotion, and Solicitation

ImprovCon values community connection over pressure-based sales.

  • Sales, promotion, or recruiting are permitted only in approved exhibitor or vendor areas
  • Unsolicited pitching, aggressive promotion, or repeated pressure is not allowed
  • Flyers, QR codes, or promotional materials require authorization
  • A “no thank you” must be respected immediately

11. Consequences

Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in removal from ImprovCon without refund, revocation of a pass, exclusion from future events, or referral to venue security or law enforcement when appropriate.

ImprovCon organizers reserve the right to interpret and enforce this policy to protect the safety and enjoyment of all participants.

12. Your Part in a Positive Experience

Arrive with an open mind, ready to engage, collaborate, laugh, and create.

  • Help others feel welcome by inviting quieter voices and asking for pronouns
  • If you are unsure whether something is okay, ask a volunteer or staff member
  • If something does not feel right, speak up

Your voice helps keep ImprovCon joyful and safe for everyone.
