What is ImprovCon?

ImprovCon is a multi-day celebration of improvisational theater bringing together performers, teachers, students, producers, and fans from around the world. It's part convention, part festival, part party featuring performances, workshops, panels, meetups, and unforgettable shared experiences.

Our mission is to advance and celebrate improv as an art form, while creating a joyful, welcoming space for connection and play.

📍 When and where is ImprovCon?

ImprovCon takes place August 20–23, 2026, in San Diego, California, with programming hosted at the Town and Country Resort

🎟️ What types of passes and purchases are available?

We haven't started selling passes just yet -- but we will soon! We'll be offering several pass options, including:

  • Full 3.5-Day Passes
  • Town and Country Hotel 3 Day Stay + 1 Full 3.5-Day Pass
  • Workshop Add-Ons
  • Performer / Panelist / Volunteer Passes
  • VIP & Experience Packages (limited availability)

Each pass type clearly outlines what's included at the time of purchase.

All Performance and Panels will be open to all attendees. Some workshops will be offered free of charge, and others will be offered for an additional fee.

How can I find out when passes are available for purchase?

🎤 What kind of programming can I expect?

ImprovCon programming includes:

  • Mainstage and showcase performances
  • Workshops for all experience levels
  • Panels and discussions on improv, creativity, and applied improv
  • Industry and community conversations
  • Social events, jams, mixers, and parties
  • Pop-up surprises (because… improv)

Programming is designed to help you learn, perform, connect, and recharge.

🧠 Do I need to be an experienced improviser to attend?

Not at all! ImprovCon is for:

  • Beginners and curious first-timers
  • Students and hobbyists
  • Professional performers and teachers
  • Applied improv practitioners
  • Fans of improv who love the art form

There's something for every level of experience.

🎭 How do performers, panelists, and instructors participate?

Participation may include:

  • Being invited by the ImprovCon team
  • Applying through an open submission process

Selected performers, panelists, and volunteers receive a 3.5-Day ImprovCon Pass in exchange for their participation. Details are outlined in our universal participation agreement.

🤝 Can I volunteer?

Yes! Volunteers generously offer their time to help make the event run smoothly. Typical volunteer roles include:

  • Registration and check-in
  • Room and session support
  • Guest assistance
  • Event flow and on-site logistics

Volunteers participate freely and are not employees of ImprovCon. In appreciation for their contribution, volunteers receive a 3.5-Day ImprovCon Pass and the opportunity to be part of the heart of the event. All volunteers are asked to agree to ImprovCon's participation guidelines and Code of Conduct.

🏨 Do I have to stay at the Town and Country Resort?

No, but we highly recommend it! Staying there:

  • Puts you steps away from programming
  • Makes networking effortless
  • Gives you access to late-night hangs and surprises
  • Helps support the sustainability of the event

♿ Is ImprovCon accessible?

Yes. ImprovCon is committed to accessibility and inclusion. Venues are ADA-compliant, and we strive to accommodate access needs whenever possible. If you have specific accessibility needs, please contact us in advance so we can support you.

🌈 What is your Code of Conduct?

ImprovCon is built on respect, inclusion, and safety. We have a clear Code of Conduct that applies to all attendees, performers, volunteers, sponsors, and staff. Harassment, discrimination, or any harmful behavior is not tolerated.

🚫 What happens if someone violates the Code of Conduct?

Failure to comply with the Code of Conduct or participation agreements may result in:

  • Removal from a performance, panel, or volunteer role
  • Revocation of event credentials
  • Removal from the convention without refund

Our priority is maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.

💸 What is the refund policy?

Refund and transfer policies are outlined at the time of pass purchase. Some passes may be transferable but not refundable. If you have questions about your pass, please reach out before the event.

📸 Will there be photography or video recording?

Yes. By attending ImprovCon, you may be photographed or recorded for promotional and archival purposes. If you have concerns, please notify the ImprovCon team on site.

🍹 Will food and drinks be available?

Yes! The host venue offers on-site food and beverage options, and select events may include sponsored refreshments or hosted experiences.

You can support ImprovCon by:
